Alan leads the Alliance’s substantive work in the areas of policy analysis, development and advice. He has authoured and co-authored submissions to government and other inquiries, and written papers on service co-ordination, YPIRAC and social insurance. He has served on a number of representative bodies and has a deep knowledge of issues affecting people with disability.
Alan recently led a project to develop and trial consumer-led governance and decision-making approaches in settings where people share supports. Using body-corporate type governance arrangements, people sharing supports were able to formalise shared decisions and brief providers on how the group wanted the support delivered.
In common with all Alliance staff, Alan has provided direct advocacy assistance to individuals and families and has built extensive networks across the health, disability and housing sectors.
